Special Episode: An Interview With $KENDU lead man, Kendu Miazaki
"That moment a community becomes sentient and thinks/works for themselves... that's when the future is locked in"
Since my fly-under-the-radar-as-an-observer technique has failed miserably in the last while, I drunkenly decided to request an interview with $KENDU memecoin dev, Kendu Miazaki. What’s fucked up is that he humored me. The following is what happened, unedited (mostly).
Starting slow, compared with your previous projects, what makes Kendu Inu unique?
The only thing different is the cycle. Other than that, I maintain the same values as always — community comes first and is the most important part of any long-term project.
For the normies — myself included — could you describe “the cycle”?
The cycle is what I refer to as a bull cycle. When the market peaks and retail enters. Cycles are always bigger than the last.
~~~Normie translation time: a bull cycle is one where the big arrow goes up and money happens.
See how little I know about this shit?! Alright, next one: I’m gathering there are no massive whales at play in Kendu - yourself included. Was this by design?
$KENDU was designed from the ground up to give everyone a chance at success, while also giving people the knowledge and skills necessary to become a leader in DeFi and Crypto as a whole.
As I always say, anyone with money can just throw cash at callers until it sticks. Not everyone is capable of what we are doing here, and that’s evident by the people who fade and regret at every level.
I told people from $100K that not everyone will be here at $100M or even billions. Few have what it takes.
Well, I’m committed to being here ‘til the end, whatever that looks like, but my work here is to document. You, on the other hand, seem to work non-stop. It’s an admirable quality and certainly influences the community to match your efforts. But how do you maintain? My bet is that you’ve got a few other tabs open as we speak, right?
The key to a good work ethic is not slowing down. It’s like on a hot day and you go into air-conditioning. You become lazy and, chances are, you won’t be going out again.
I love the heat.
Interesting analogy. You do occasionally sleep though, right?
Only on special occasions lol.
Referring to the community as a cult on VC was an interesting and bold call. Do you think this was motivational for the group? Is this typical of your style on previous projects? Do you assess the risk before saying things like these or just shoot from the hip?
You can’t make an omelet without cracking a few eggs. My job isn’t to keep everyone happy.
My job is to support those working the frontlines every day - and to ensure $KENDU’s success.
And no single person or their feelings go above that.
That leads nicely into something else I've been wanting to clarify - - - What’s your personal interest in building specifically this project and why? I’m not really talking about solely the money element here. Let’s talk in terms of personal achievement/satisfaction at a job well done. What does success look like to you?
I have a passion for community building and engagement. And as for success, we are already seeing it.
That moment a community becomes sentient and thinks/works for themselves... that's when the future is locked in.
We have created the culture to succeed. Now it’s just time and a little bit of elbow grease.
Wasn't expecting that answer, if I'm honest! I know there’s a maintained paid-influencer-free status at the moment. Can you ever see there being a U-turn on that if growth suddenly halted?
Growth won't be stopped. That's the result of the way we have all managed to build this community. There is no next thing, there is only work.
The confidence is inspiring, but the end goal isn't clear to me. Where’s the “shit, time to retire” point? Is it a Lamborghini, or a modest plot of land and a nice wee cabin?
Honestly, for me, it's reputation and proof that somebody can go from a nobody to a leader in this space — from scratch.
At this point, the interview was paused for a casual 13-hour break. I initially assumed that the interviewee may have needed a rest, but no, he conducted a Twitter Spaces and was active on other platforms. Maybe that’s what rest looks like to him. We resumed:
They're gonna love that answer! Speaking of "them", I was thinking we could finish nice and light with some questions I’ve been suggested to ask, word for word.
Wen moon? But for real this time, with lunar land plots as NFTs?
I think the word lunar would induce PTSD in people nowadays haha.
To finish, a well-thought-out one from a community member. What would you like to see from the community in terms of creative endeavors? Did you notice anything with Shiba Inu that, at any time, really added to the movement?
Not really, Just that snowball effect accumulates. Then, before you know it, you are running faster and harder to 1B and beyond than you thought possible. With $SHIB, it was the right time and right community - just hard work.
And that’s it. I’ll let the reader draw their own conclusions without my intervention and resume my regular ‘arrow go up/down’ fly-on-the-wall analysis next episode.
